First Astronomy Night

The first astronomy night with the 2019/2020 society group happened on the Monday night when the peak activity of the Orionid meteor shower was expected.

Although the weather was initially challenging, with thick cloud cover entirely blocking the view at the start of the evening, after a group viewing of Inception the cloud had cleared enough by around 1 am to attempt viewing again. From a dark field on the edge of the university campus we managed to get a few glimpses of the shower, although we mainly focused on setting the telescope towards the moon, managing to get a few great shots before the cloud moved in again.
